A new book discussion group forming at Portsmouth Public Library will focus on literature dealing with themes of homosexuality or bisexuality. The group’s first meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 2, in the Hilton Garden Inn Room.
The first meeting will focus on “Mysteries of Pittsburgh,” the 1988 debut novel of Michael Chabon, which tells a coming-of-age story about a young man forced to confront his own sexuality. The book was made into a film in 2009.
Subsequent book discussions will feature “Fun Home” by Alison Bechdel on Wednesday, April 6, and “A Seahorse Year” by Stacey D’Erasmo on Wednesday, May 4. All three meetings are open to any adults and high school-age teens.
The discussions begin at 7 p.m. at Portsmouth Public Library, 175 Parrott Ave., Portsmouth, 603-427-1540. For more information, contact the group leader at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
