Country Fest adds Idol finalist
“American Idol” semi-finalist and Boston native Ayla Brown has been added to the lineup of the eighth annual WOKQ Country Festival, taking place at Prescott Park in Portsmouth on Saturday, Aug. 4.
The event, part of the Prescott Park Arts Festival’s 38th season, will also feature local and regional acts the Tom Dixon Band, Skyler and the Band of Thieves, Karen Morgan and Pony Express, and Jodie Cunningham and Fried Cactus.
Brown, who reached the semi-finals in the 2006 season of “American Idol,” has released four albums and served as National Anthem singer for the Philadelphia 76ers and a national news correspondent for “The Early Show” on CBS. Her self-titled country album came out earlier this year, featuring the hit single “Goodbye for Good.”
The festival takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. at Prescott Park on Marcy Street in Portsmouth. There is a suggested donation of $8 to $10.
