Buffet band mates headed to Dover
Local Parrotheads might not get to see Jimmy Buffett on the Seacoast, but they will have a chance to see a few of his associates next month. Peter Mayer, Jim Mayer and Scott Kirby will play at Rivermill at Dover Landing on Friday, Sept. 21.
Kirby, a New Hampshire native, first met the Mayer brothers in Key West nearly 20 years ago during the recording of Buffett’s 1995 album “Barometer Soup.” The trio plays just a handful of shows together each year. In Dover, they’ll be joined by Peter’s son Brendan Mayer.
Guitarist and vocalist Peter Mayer is a long-time member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band and has also shared the stage with James Taylor, Mac McAnally, Sonny Landreth, Don Henley and others. His latest album, “Goodbye Hello,” features interpretations of songs by The Beatles.
Bassist Jim Mayer, also a member of the Coral Reefer Band, has played with Mose Allison, James Taylor, Ringo Starr, Little Feat and others. He’s also an engineer, producer and children’s musician.
Kirby performs his own patented brand of coastal-inspired acoustic “beach folk.” He has released six solo albums and plays more than 100 shows per year, and is a frequently requested artist on Sirius XM Radio Margaritaville.
The show begins at 8 p.m. at Rivermill at Dover Landing, 2 Washington St., Dover, 603-343-2192. Tickets are $30.
