Music Hall announces fall shows
The Music Hall has announced the latest additons to its lineup. Headed to Portsmouth over the next few months are Art Garfunkel, Gladys Knight, Rufus Wainwright, Ingrid Michaelson, and Mike and Ruthy. Tickets to all shows go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Aug. 18.
Garfunkel, the famed vocalist who made up half of the duo Simon and Garfunkel, will perform on Friday, Sept. 21. He’s touring in support of his new compilation CD, “The Singer.” Tickets are $68 to $62.
Knight, who took home the “Legend Award” at last fall’s Soul Train Awards, hits the theater on Sunday, Oct. 21. Known as the “Empress of Soul,” she was the lead singer of Gladys Knight &The Pips, who are in the Rock ’N’ Roll Hall of Fame. Tickets are $129 to $92.
Wainwright plays Wednesday, Oct. 24, with opening acts Teddy Thompson and Lucy Wainwright Roche. The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter is touring in support of his seventh album, “Out of the Game.” Tickets are $58 to $52.
Michaelson comes to town Friday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. The indie-pop singer-songwriter has risen to stardom with songs on several TV series and with albums on her own Cabin 24 label, including her latest, this year’s “Human Again.” Tickets are $30.
Across the street at the Music Hall Loft, Mike and Ruthy will perform Saturday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. The duo of Mike Merenda and Ruth Ungar, both former members of folk-rock band the Mammals, are touring in support of their new disc, “The NYC EP.” It’s a homecoming for Merenda, who’s from Durham. Tickets are $20.
