Szirbik sets sail with new disc
Dover-based singer-songwriter Andrea Szirbik, an acoustic guitarist and author of emotionally sweet folk and pop songs, is set to release her new CD with a show aboard the M/V Thomas Laighton this month.
Szirbik released her debut album, “I Am Here,” in 2011, and she’s following it up this year with her sophomore effort, “Who I Am.” She’ll play a CD release show with her band during a cruise to the Isles of Shoals on Friday, Sept. 21, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Guest bands Old Saw and B.A. Canning also will perform.
Tickets for the 21-plus cruise are $12, but a reduced price of $5 is available to guests who buy the CD, available at Bull Moose in Portsmouth and Ear Craft Music in Dover. The ship leaves from the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company’s dock at 315 Market St. in Portsmouth. Tickets are available at www.islesofshoals.com.
Other upcoming performances by Szirbik include an opening slot for Mat Maier at the Dover Brick House on Friday, Sept. 14 at 9 p.m., and an appearance on WSCA Portsmouth Community Radio on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m.
