UNH Celebrity series announced
The 2012-2013 season of the University of New Hampshire Celebrity Series will bring a range of world-class musicians and theatrical acts to the Johnson Theatre stage. The series begins in September and continues through next April.
The first show takes place on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m., featuring a performance by self-conducted Boston orchestra A Far Cry. The program includes Arvo Pärt’s “Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten,” Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” Bartók’s “Romanian Dances,” and Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings.”
The series continues with the Swingle Singers playing songs inspired by music from 50 years ago on Oct. 14, State Street Ballet performing “The Secret Garden” on Nov. 8, Santiago Rodriguez playing classical piano on Feb. 5, the Montana Repertory Theatre presenting Neil Simon’s “Biloxi Blues” on April 9, and the Prague-based Pavel Haas Quartet performing on April 21.
