Hamell on Trial heads to the Seacoast
One-man punk show Ed Hamell, a.k.a. Hamell on Trial, is on his way to the Seacoast for a pair of upcoming gigs. Hamell’s tour will bring him to The Stone Church in Newmarket on Friday, Aug. 17, and to Spun Records in Dover on Sunday, Aug. 19.
Known for playing loud, fast songs on his 1937 Gibson acoustic guitar, and for telling humorous stories about everything from politics and social issues to sex and drugs, Hamel has been performing since the late 1980s. Signed to Righteous Babe Records, the label owned by Ani DiFranco, his most recent CD is 2008’s “Rant & Roll.”
At The Stone Church, Hamell will open for Will Evans of Barefoot Truth. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $10. At Spun Records, an art show featuring Hamell’s work begins at noon and the music starts at 1 p.m.
