Irish Fest returning to Dover
Dover’s Henry Law Park will once again be the site of traditional Irish music, dance and storytelling during the ninth annual Seacoast Irish Festival. The event takes place at the Rotary Arts Pavilion on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The entertainment lineup includes Ireland’s Screaming Orphans, Dover’s own The Makem & Spain Brothers, Maine’s Schooner Fare, Boston’s Sunday’s Well, Irish-born duo The McTeggarts, and local favorites Bradigan, among others.
The festival will also feature activities for all ages, as well as pipers and traditional Irish dancing from the Murray Dance Academy.
Founded by Eugene Byrne in 2003, the Seacoast Irish Festival started at the Dover Elks Club but moved to Henry Law Park in 2010. Last year’s festival attracted more than 1,500 attendees. This year’s event is hosted by Dover Main Street, which has partnered with Guinness to widen the festival’s appeal.
The festivities take place from noon to 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 day of show (free for kids under 12), available at www.seacoastirishfestival.org or by calling 603-740-6435.
