Red Sky Mary kick starts new album
Seacoast rock band Red Sky Mary plans to release a new album, re-release an old EP and embark on a tour this fall, and they’re looking for help from fans to get it all done. The band has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the projects, linked through their web site at www.redskymary.com.
Kickstarter is an online fundraising tool that enables people to collect pledges for various projects. Red Sky Mary is hoping to raise at least $4,000 in pledges by Sept. 16. If they fail to reach their goal by the deadline, all pledges will be returned.
Red Sky Mary began recording their new album at BB3 Studios in Newton in July. The Kickstarter funds will go toward mastering and replicating the CD, and re-releasing the “Skies on Fire” EP with three new live bonus tracks. Any leftover money will be used to convert the band’s tour van to biodiesel in time for a fall tour.
As of late last week, the Kickstarter project had garnered more than 30 pledges for a total of more than $2,000. Those who make pledges receive digital downloads of songs and other rewards, with the value increasing with the sum of the pledge.
