Seacoast Local hosts 'Building Community Capital' series
Potential investors and entrepreneurs are invited to an upcoming event on the advantages of and access to local community capital. Presented by Seacoast Local, it takes place at Alpha Loft in Portsmouth on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The two-hour seminar is the first in a three-part series called “Building Community Capital,” aimed at advising business owners, potential investors and members of the public about how the community capital approach can help sustain a vibrant community on the Seacoast. Featured presenters will include Steve Scott, vice president of Provident Bank; Joel Moyer, co-founder of Sprout and former venture fellow at Investors Circle; and Bob Marino, chair of Seacoast Local’s Community Capital program and its newly formed Seacoast Local Investment Network.
The second event in the series will take place on Friday, Oct. 5 at 9:30 a.m. at Portsmouth Public Library, where keynote speaker Michael Shuman, author of “Local Dollars, Local Sense,” will kick off the New England Local Business Forum.
The third event takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Collaborative Office Group in Dover. It will feature an interactive workshop on preparing locally owned independent businesses for local investment.
The first two events are free and open to the public but require pre-registration. The third event is $25 ($20 for Seacoast Local members). For registration and more information, visit www.seacoastlocal.org.
