SEIU endorses Hassan for governor
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Maggie Hassan recently picked up an endorsement from the State Employees’ Association of NH, SEIU Local 1984, which represents about 11,500 public and private-sector employees across New Hampshire.
In its endorsement message, the labor union cited Hassan’s opposition to “right-to-work” legislation, which would weaken collective bargaining rights for workers. Republican candidate Ovide Lamontagne has expressed support for such legislation.
Ken Roos, first vice president of the association, accused Lamontagne of supporting Republican House Speaker Bill O’Brien’s “war against workers.” He said Hassan would oppose any efforts to weaken bargaining rights.
